01 / The idea
A new social waterfront for Lagos.
Mako Riverside transforms an underused parcel east of the Falomo bridge into a cultural and leisure landmark: part restaurant, part public beach, part exhibition space and entirely connected to the life of the lagoon.
The proposal brings together a locally focused seafood restaurant, shaded terraces, an infinity pool, boardwalks and private dining pods. Each element is composed as part of a generous public landscape—somewhere to eat, relax, refresh and learn.
02 / Design language
Rooted in Makoko.
Drawn for tomorrow.
The architecture takes its cue from the historic fishing community of Makoko, where building and daily life are inseparable from water. Familiar pitched forms are sharpened into a contemporary family of beach huts; timber boardwalks extend the public realm over the lagoon; woven, lantern-like pods create private rooms on the water.

Dining
A contemporary seafood restaurant frames the Victoria Island waterfront through generous, full-height glazing.

The proposal pairs tourism with cultural and social value: a free exhibition platform for local artists, employment and training opportunities, locally sourced food and prefab construction, and a public place that celebrates Lagos as a city to work, play and holiday.
